Michael Kluthe

What role did you have in the film?

I played the part of Mike Peters (Jake's older brother) – The (negative) Influence.

What was the best part of the filming experience?

The funnest part was probably the death scene in the rain and mud.

What was the most difficult part of filming or preparing for filming?

Definetly the overdose scene.

I had an interesting experience at the beginning of the scene. I used to have a cocaine addiction, but have been clean for many years. The director had me cutting lines of "cocaine" out of a large pile on a glass tabletop. When I picked up the razor-blade and began divying out lines, the feelings of my old addiction came rushing back. I wanted to do coke. Despite the fact that it was only baking powder in front of me, all I could think about was snorting coke and all the sensations that went along with that. The feelings soon left after the scene was over, but I was amazed that after all these years I could still feel that way, just by putting myself in that setting . I remembered the expression: "Once an addict, always an addict."

What do you hope this film accomplishes?

I hope this film demonstrates to youth that there are very real and very negative consequences for the choices of drug use/a drug lifestyle.

What other film projects have you worked on?

I've appeared in "Touched by an Angel," AT&T commercials, voice-over for a documentary, "The Maldonado Miracle," and numerous independent and student films.

What's next for you (in the industry)?

Probably film school.

What advice do you have for others trying to get into the industry?

Be serious about it. Study and train your hardest and behave like a professional.
